Chemical Peeling
Over the years, exposure to the sun, wind and other factors can take a toll on your skin.
TCA (Trichloroacetic acid)) has been used for many years to improve the appearance of skin. It is most commonly used for medium depth peeling, penetrating more deeply than the mildest AHA (alphahydroxy acid) peel formulas.
A TCA skin peel can smooth away fine lines and wrinkles and quickly eliminate colour irregularities evening skin tone and texture. It can lessen the appearance of mild acne and acne scarring and improve superficial scars. The skin appears noticeably smoother, softer, supple and more translucent.
Peel treatments are a superficial gentle technique unlike deeper more aggressive laser resurfacing procedures.
These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin and are more suited to people who don’t want the downtime to recover from a more aggressive peel.

How does the treatment work?
Peels work by removing the top layer of dead skin cells revealing the smoother more youthful skin beneath. Exfoliation of the top layer is accompanied by penetration of the lower layers to stimulate collagen production.

What is the treatment like?
The treatment causes the top layer of skin cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days. TCA is applied to your skin in a treatment session lasting 15 to 30 minutes. A mild heating sensation is felt as the TCA works on the skin. The sensation is so mild that no anaesthesia is needed. Redness like sunburn is present for several hours after the procedure.

Do I have to follow an after-care regime?
After a chemical peel the skin is more sensitive to sunlight for at least 6 to 8 weeks, it is therefore important to protect the new skin from strong sunlight with sun block.
